The proper attitude toward everything that happens in life is "Not my will but thine. Thank you for the lesson." Buddhism calls this non-resistance. The idea is to work and learn from the universe instead of fighting it. This does not mean to give up our power - just the opposite, in fact. It means owning our power and viewing what has happened as a teaching, lesson, challenge, and opportunity to grow. Look at karma as a stepping stone for soul growth.
