Craniosacral work began in the early 1900's by an osteopath who
realized that the tissues between the bones of our skull are actually
soft, and allow for slight movement. A healthy cranium therefore
expands and contracts in response to fluid movement (cerebrospinal
fluid)....therefore any restriction in these delicate tissues can
create dysfunction: headaches, dizziness, migraines, TMJ dysfunction,
sinus and ear infections.
Craniosacral treatment itself is a very gentle, hands-on manipulation
of the cranial bones, but work can be done nearly anywhere on the body. Work that is subtle and gentle like Craniosacral can go very deep into the body's tissues, and create significant change in the body's "armour". It does not create trauma to the tissue like aggressive massage therapy can, so therefore the damaged structures and emotions have a chance to transform and leave the body.
Not only can Craniosacral create change in the body, mind and spirit, it is absolutely
amazing and relaxing!
