Reiki came to me by way of one of my clients. He went through all three levels of the Reiki training program, and came in one day for a massage and told me all about it. I was curious, so he gave me a treatment one day...it was amazing! Reiki is hard to explain, so I will provide some explanation below, which I have taken from various sources.

Reiki is an ancient healing art that incorporates the channeling of energy through the hands. Translated from Japanese, Reiki means "Universal Life Energy". This natural energy is within and surrounds all living things. Reiki helps to accelerate natural healing processes by addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels of the body.

Much of our disease is caused by negative energy blockages within the body and Reiki stimulates the release of these energies. It can be used to enhance medical procedures and support the healing of all illnesses.

A Reiki practitioner places his/her hands on certain areas of the body, and the channeled energy is drawn through the hands into the person's body, to the degree and areas it is required. Reiki is non-invasive and very relaxing to the receiver, as well as the practitioner.

Various sensations may be felt while receiving Reiki, and other times nothing may be felt at all. Some people report feeling warm or cold, and others feel the energy or "Ki" rushing through their bodies. It is not uncommon to drift off to sleep.

Reiki is something that you have to experience, and be open to receiving. Reiki can change your life, and I can say this because it has changed mine.  All you need is an open mind and heart.

One thing I will stress about Reiki, is that it has nothing to do with the practitioner having remarkable healing abilities. Someone cannot heal you. Your body, mind and spirit need to be ready and open to healing, and it will occur when it is meant to. Putting any agendas on an energy session is defeating the purpose of being able to genuinely receive what your body and soul needs.
